Abhishek Banerjee invited to UN program on women empowerment in Norway

The Royal Norwegian Embassy and United Nations Women have invited Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee to participate in a gender equality and women empowerment programme in Norway from November 17-22. The exchange visit will expose participants to Norway’s policies and programmes that have advanced gender equality and women’s leadership in public life.
During the visit, Banerjee will interact with members of the Norwegian Parliament, governance institutions, and leaders in academia and business.
These discussions aim to highlight Norway’s approach to women’s equal participation and leadership, key drivers of social and economic development.
The visit will also address economic ties between Norway and India.
Following a trade and partnership agreement signed in March 2024 as part of the EFTA-states, both countries seek to strengthen cooperation in sectors like renewable energy and the circular economy.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in a statement said that they would organise the visit and cover expenses related to international flights, meals, accommodations and local travel in Norway. Representatives from the embassy and UN Women will accompany the Trinamool Congress leader in Oslo, the statement said.
